I did Sheiko for a few cycles and liked it, but a little tough on this 42 year old with an arthritic knee.

I got back into powerlifting a little over two years ago and mostly did my own form of an undulating block periodization.

Do think the 5/3/1/ program is effective?

I've only done two cycles, which took two months. I think it's too soon to tell. I do like the program

Can you expand on the AL Bianchi. I have seen some of the results.

we train 2 days a week monday friday we go 3 training cycles with the shirt and on the 4th training cycle we go raw we do alot of shoulder work and tricep we also do dumbell press work for high reps as well wether it would be incline, flat. we work the deadlift every other week either raw or equip or it could be rack pull or reverse bands. we also do a back work as well barbell rows or cable rows for moderate to high reps. the biggest thing with al is on how we feel things could change that day and rick also hit 707 last few months in dells wi at the wabdl

Al and his brother John we real mainstays at the old Pep's Gym in Maynard. I haven't seen Al since I left for grad school in 1996, but he is one of the finest people I have ever met.

I'm just finishing up my first cycle on 5-3-1 now. I'd love to hear more about how that program has gone for those folks that mentioned a while back they were trying it -- or from anyone that's tried it since then. I'm going to stick with it for at least another cycle before I decide what I think of it. In the meantime, I'd like to hear any thoughts or feedback from folks about the program.

Gina- I have never tried it but what are the key differences in that program from what we typically do? What are your thoughts on it after the first go in it?

Gina, I've had a hiccup with training and nursing school. My deadlift and squat are still up, even with the lack of consistency, and my bench is starting to come around. I plan on sticking with this for quite a while.
